Michael Drake was my trainer for a year in Los Angeles – and in a celeb driven town saturated with trainers — he’s the best I’ve worked with: professional, kind, and knows his stuff.

Erin Wehrmann

Erin has taught me to get in touch with my inner athlete. When I originally came to her, I expected to simply lift some heavy weights and call it a day. Little did I know she’d teach me how to really listen to my body and make a change, in and out of the gym, for the better. No question is too dumb, no accomplishment too small. Now that I realize what my body is capable of, I keep reaching and resetting my goals with Erin as the ultimate cheerleader along the way.
— Christina Furtado

I teach group cycle for a local gym and had hit a fitness plateau when I began working with Erin. Using technology, fitness know-how, and nutritional guidance, I was able to loose 20 pounds, 8% body fat and tone in places I didn’t think possible! Erin’s hands-on approach inspires me to continue striving for excellence in my fitness endeavors; I’ve not only lost weight and toned down, I’ve also become stronger and much more goal driven! I’ve been around gyms and trainers more than the average person and can honestly say that Erin knows what she’s doing.
— Alicia Salazar

I first meet Erin last year when she was teaching spin classes at Workshop Fitness. When I decided a few months ago to hire a personal trainer as birthday present for myself, she was the first person I thought about. I have been training with her for over 3 months now and I could not be happier. I have tired countless diets (South Beach, Ideal Protein, etc.) and it has never been this easy for me to lose weight. Don’t get me wrong, Erin definitely kicks my butt in the gym, but she has taught me that it is more of a “lifestyle change” that just loosing weight. I have never felt healthier of more knowledgeable about food and nutrition. She is friendly and motivating and has gone above and beyond what a normal trainer usually does; she even offered to go to the store with me to help me pick out new tennis shoes. I definitely recommend Fitness with Erin to anyone who is wanting to not only loose weight, but learn how to live a healthier life!
— Samantha Vicha

I have been training with Erin for about 2 years and can’t imagine working with anyone else. I’ve worked out with other trainers in the past, but none were as effective, inspiring, motivating and amazing as Erin. She keeps the workouts fresh and fun…she can modify any exercise if you need her to (like if I super duper hate it!)…she understands injuries and rehab. I could gush for days, but I think I better go workout instead!!
— Julie Lack

I’m a twenty something girl who likes to do all kinds of things. Working out used to not be one of those things or a priority. I have been training with Erin for 2 years now, and staying healthy has become a habit and a fun one! Erin is a funny person to be around and makes workouts fun, but she is serious when it comes to your bodies needs. I have back issues, and she knows what things I can and cannot do. She pushes me to lift more, challenge my muscles and my mental limits. She is an athlete who treats you like an athlete, not just a client.
— Katie Walker

I was first introduced to Erin through my best friend, who is also one of her clients. After our first meeting, I told my friend, “She moves like the Terminator, dude. I think you better do whatever she tells you.” She ignored me, and instead invited me to drop in on one of her sessions with Erin. I did, and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. A few months later, bored with my exercise routine and recovering from a mild injury, I contacted Erin to see if she would be willing to take me on as a low-frequency client. We met and put together a plan. I’ve been exercising with Erin’s custom work-outs since May, and I’ve really enjoyed the experience. My goals at our first meeting were to rebuild my conditioning enough to run and enjoy a 5K, something I haven’t done consistently in several years, build the brute strength needed to rock climb with my husband and son, and lose enough weight to comfortably fit into all my pants. Erin tailored work-outs around these goals, and has continued to update and refine them at each meeting. Three months later, I can see a noticeable difference in my overall strength, particularly my upper body and core. I can make it up more than one climb on Seismic Wall in the greenbelt. I’ve lost a couple of inches around my waist, and, while I’ve had to back off of running as frequently as I’d like in order to address some knee problems, when I do run or use the elliptical I find that Erin’s weight training program has done more for my endurance than the distance training I’ve done in the past. My overall energy level seems higher, and I’m really pleased. I would particularly recommend Erin for those who are body-conscious or otherwise intimidated by exercise. Although she looks like she could rip you in half, Erin is entirely low pressure and non-judgmental about what you can, can’t, or “should” be able to do. If an exercise isn’t working for you, she knows six different ways to modify it and five alternate moves. She’s great at reading your cues and finding ways to work around injuries or other limitations. I plan to continue with Erin as long as it suits us both, and I’m looking forward to it.

Paul Hedrick

Working with Paul over the past year far exceeded my expectations. Initially, I met Paul after a long period of inactivity due to a knee surgery that left me insecure about working out. I was injured doing a two-mile run on a cinder track; this was supposed to be a warm up for sprint intervals, which I had been performing for a year without event. By the time I signed up for training at WS, I was out of shape, 20 pounds heavier than I had ever been; beyond this, at 43, I didn’t expect to gain any new vigor over the next few months of convalescing from my injury. My expectations, indeed, were low.

Paul’s approach to the training alleviated my insecurity about getting in shape. For one thing, I came to realize that training is a process that takes place over a trajectory of phases: First, I gained strength and endurance. I realized I could workout with more intensity over time, which was not the case when we first started. Secondly, I started losing body fat and gaining muscle mass. My body fat was 20% when I first came to WS; it’s now at 17%. And I’ve gained 10 pounds of muscle over the year. Finally, I was able to increase the variety and amount of weight through my exercise circuit.

Our workouts are never repeated in a sequence. That is to say, I never came to the gym for training and felt like Paul hadn’t thought out a routine for that particular day; the variety of exercises was startling. (The Hedrick Press became my favorite tricep blast!) We did flexor and extensor muscles in supersets; full-body, powerlifting movements like cleans, deadlifts and jerks; and we did isolation movements to target specific body parts. My definition increased as well as my strength.

This was not simply a regiment for getting in shape, but it has also become a lifestyle that I’ve been trained to live. As a college professor, I spend most of my time behind a desk, hunched over papers or peering into a computer screen. There’s nothing in my daily activities that would dictate my staying in shape; that is, nothing other than my new commitment and new knowledge gained through my training with Paul.
